From Hawaiian Electric:
As we near the end of 2020, we want to say mahalo for trusting Hawaiian Electric to provide you with safe and reliable service. The coronavirus pandemic has presented myriad challenges for so many, and we’re working with thousands of customers to help them manage their electric bill payments.
In March, Hawaiian Electric suspended disconnections for nonpayment so that the vital service we provide would continue uninterrupted for those experiencing job loss or other financial challenges. As you may know, the moratorium on disconnections is scheduled to end on Dec. 31, 2020, unless extended by our regulators.
If the financial impact of COVID-19 has made it difficult to pay your bill – or if you know someone who is having difficulty – you can ensure continued electric service by signing up for a special payment plan. Your balance can be divided into more manageable installments; interest and late fees are waived while on a payment plan. Access our payment arrangement request form. It’s the quickest way to start the process.
There also are financial assistance programs that may be able to help with utility bills. Although Hawaiian Electric doesn’t administer these programs, we provide a listing of available resources.
We can’t help you if we don’t hear from you – so please contact us if you need assistance. Stay safe and mahalo for being a valued customer.
